The University of Cape Town (UCT) was founded in 1829 as the South African College making it the oldest higher education institute in South Africa. UCT is one of Africa's leading teaching and research institutions and the highest-ranked African university.
UCT is an inclusive and engaged research-intensive African university that inspires creativity through outstanding achievements in learning, discovery and citizenship; enhancing the lives of its students and staff; advancing a more equitable and sustainable social order and influencing the global higher education landscape. The School of Economics which is one of the largest departments at UCT and consists of over 30 staff members who cover a broad range of disciplines in economics in their teaching and research. In addition, the School has a strong research focus and hosts several active research units.

The Conference will take place at UCT Graduate School of Business Academic Conference Centre, which is a new environmentally-friendly conference venue, located on the eastern side of the UCT GSB and to the north of the Heritage Wall, in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.
